Golden Corn Bread Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup cornmeal
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
2/3 cup milk
6 tablespoons butter or margarine melted, or salad oil
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Grease 8" by 8" baking pan.
2. In medium-sized bowl, mix first 5 ingredients. In small bowl, beat egg, milk, and butter or margarine until blended. Stir egg mixture into flour mixture just until flour is moistened (batter will be lumpy).
3. Spread batter evenly in pan. Bake 25 minutes or until golden and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cut into 9 squares; serve warm. Or cool in pan on wire rack to serve later; reheat if desired.
