Golden Apple Buttermilk Bread Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Whole wheat flour | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/2 cup natural bran cereal | ||
| Baking soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Baking powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground ginger | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Buttermilk | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vegetable oil | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 Large | |
| Orange peel | 1 Teaspoon, grated | |
| 1 cup chopped Washington Golden Delicious apples | ||
Directions
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 9x5-inch loaf pan. In medium bowl, combine flours, bran, baking soda, baking powder and ginger. In large bowl, beat together buttermilk, sugar, oil, egg and orange peel.
2. Add flour mixture to buttermilk mixture, stirring just until combined. Fold in apples. Spread batter in prepared pan and bake 45 to 50 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool bread in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on wire rack.
