Gingerbread Cookies Recipe
Gingerbread cookies has been on my favorites list since I was a kid. These lovely gingerbread cookies are spiced with giner, cinnamon ad cloves and baked with brown sugar and molasses for sweetness. A homely recipe, these gingerbread cookies are sure to delight the kids!
Ingredients
2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup molasses
1 egg
3 cups sifted flour
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
Directions
Cream shortening and brown sugar.
Add molasses and egg; beat well.
Into medium bowl, sift flour, soda, powder and spices.
Add to sugar mixture, stirring well.
Wrap dough in plastic or waxed paper; chill in freezer about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Roll dough 1/8 inch thick.
Cut out with cookie cutters.
Place cookies on ungreased cookie pan.
Decorate.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until firm, but not browned.
Cool.
