 Shortening1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
 Sugar1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
 Egg1 , beaten
 Molasses1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Hot water1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Raisins1 Cup (16 tbs)

Directions

To measured flour add soda, spices and salt and sift together.
Cream shortening, add sugar, continuing to cream.
Add beaten egg and molasses and combine well.
Fold in sifted ingredients.
Add hot water and beat until smooth.
Fold in raisins and bake in greased shallow pan 35 minutes at 350F.
