Gingerbread People Recipe
Ingredients
| 100 g / 4 oz plain flour | ||
| Soda bicarbonate | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground ginger | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 25 g / 1 oz butter or margarine | ||
| 50 g / 2 oz soft brown sugar | ||
| Golden syrup | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Milk | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Currants | ||
| Glace cherries | ||
Directions
Sift the flour, soda and spices into a bowl.
Place the fat, sugar and syrup in a pan over low heat until melted.
Cool, then mix into the flour with the milk to make a firm dough.
Wrap in polythene and chill for 30 minutes.
Turn the dough on to a floured surface and roll out to a 5 mm / 1/4 inch thickness.
Using gingerbread cutters, cut out 12 figures.
Press on currants for buttons and eyes and pieces of glace cherry for mouths.
Place on greased baking sheets.
Bake in a preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until firm.
