Gingerbread People Recipe
Ingredients
| Whole wheat pastry flour | 3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Ground ginger | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground allspice | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Butter | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Honey | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/4 cup light molasses | ||
| Egg | 1 | |
| White vinegar | 1 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Sift together flour, baking soda, ginger, and allspice into a medium-size bowl.
Stir with a fork to blend.
In a large bowl, beat butter.
Add honey and molasses, and beat in.
Beat in egg.
Lightly mix in dry ingredients and vinegar.
Wrap dough with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Butter a baking sheet.
Divide dough into quarters.
Roll out each portion on a lightly floured surface.
Cut with cookie cutters, and place carefully on prepared baking sheet.
If cookies are large enough, press raisins into dough for eyes and buttons.
Bake on middle shelf of oven, allowing 6 to 8 minutes for small people, and 10 to 12 minutes for large ones.
