1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions
Heat the corn syrup in a small saucepan.
When it comes to a boil, pour over the butter and sugar, which have been placed in a mixing bowl.
Add the vinegar and stir until smooth; cool.
Blend in the egg.
Sift the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and salt together.
Then sift again into the corn syrup mixture; mix well.
Cover and chill overnight.
Remove about 3/4 cup of the dough at a time (to make one gingerbread man).
Roll out on a lightly floured board into a rectangle approximately 8 x 5 inches.
Cut with a large (7 to 8 inch) gingerbread-man cutter.
Place an inch apart on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies are an even golden brown.
Cool slightly, then remove from the cookie sheet to cooling racks When completely cool, frost with Confectioners' Sugar Icing.
