Ginegerbread With Black Treacle Recipe
Ingredients
| Plain flour | 3/4 Pound | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Ground ginger | 1/4 Ounce | |
| Sugar | 3 Ounce | |
| Lard | 3 Ounce | |
| 1/2 lb. black treacle | ||
| 4-6 tablesp. milk | ||
| Soda bicarbonate | 1 Teaspoon (Leveled) | |
| Egg | 1 | |
Directions
Sift the flour, salt and ginger into a bowl, add the sugar.
Put the fat, treacle and most of the milk into a pan and warm them.
Dissolve the soda in the rest of the milk.
Pour the warm liquid into the flour, add the beaten egg and the dissolved soda and beat well— the mixture should be soft enough to run easily from the spoon.
Pour into a greased 7-8-in tin, or into a bread-tin and bake in a moderate oven (350°-335° F., Gas 4-3), reduce heat to the lower temperature after 20 min.
