Directions

Mix together the flour, ginger and salt, and rub in the butter.
Warm the milk and the syrup separately.
Stir the soda into the milk, then quickly stir in the syrup.
Blend with the dry ingredients and mix in the raisins.
Steam in pudding basin for two-and-a-quarter hours.
Serve with custard or sweet white sauce.
