Ginger Pear Crumble Recipe

Ginger pear crumble is a baked dessert made with gingered pears with gingersnap cookie crumbs. Flavored witj lemon juice and topped with a cherry, gingered pears are quite savory.

Ingredients

 
1 1/2 cups fine gingersnap crumbs
 
1/2 cup brown sugar
 
1/4 teaspoon salt
 
1/4 cup butter or margarine melted
 
3 fresh pears halved pared and cored or 1 1-pound can pear halves drained
 
1 tablespoon lemon juice
 
Maraschino cherries

Directions

Combine crumbs, brown sugar, salt, and butter.
Place half of mixture in bottom of buttered 8 1/4 x13/4 inch.round baking dish.
Top with pear halves, cut side up.
Sprinkle with lemon juice and remaining crumbs.
Bake in moderate oven (350°) 25 to 30 minutes or till pears are tender and top is crisp.
Center each pear half with a maraschino cherry.
Serve warm topped with ice cream or whipped cream.
