Egg - 1, beaten
 
Dark brown sugar - 1 cup, firmly packed
 
Butter or margarine - 1/4 cup, melted
 
Milk - 2 tablespoons
 
Sifted flour - 1 cup
 
Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
 
Soda - 1/8 teaspoon
 
Ginger - 1/2 teaspoon
 
Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
 
Mixed glazed fruit - 1 cup
 
Nuts - 1/2 cup, chopped

Directions

GETTING READY
1) Grease and flour a 9-inch-square pan.

MAKING
2) In a bowl, mix together egg, brown sugar, and butter and mix well.
3) Stir in the milk.
4) Sift together the flour, salt, soda, ginger, and cinnamon.
5) Add into the egg mix and stir.
6) Mix in the fruit and nuts.
7) Transfer the batter into the baking pan.
8) Place in the oven and bake at 350° F for about 45 minutes.
9) Cool.

SERVING
10) Cut into bars and serve.
