Ingredients
6 large tart apples
10 gingersnaps, crushed
8 ounces mixed candied fruits, diced
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 cup ginger ale
3/4-1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
Directions
Wash apples; core, but do not peel.
Place in buttered baking dish snug enough to keep apples upright and close together.
Combine gingersnaps and glace fruits, and add salt and butter or margarine.
Fill each apple center with mixture.
Prick apples at several points to prevent bursting of skin.' Pour ginger ale into pan, and sprinkle brown sugar Over and around apples.
Bake at 375°F. 1 hour or until tender, basting frequently.
These baked apples are at their best when allowed to cool and served with cream.
