Ginger Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine softened
1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons dark corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 egg
Directions
1. Into large bowl, measure flour, 3/4 cup sugar, and remaining ingredients. With mixer at low speed, beat ingredients until just mixed; increase speed to medium; beat 5 minutes, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula. Wrap dough in plastic wrap; refrigerate 2 hours or until firm enough to handle.
2. Preheat oven to 375°F. On floured surface with floured rolling pin, roll half of dough 1/8 inch thick, keeping rest of dough refrigerated.
3. Using floured 2 1/2-inch cookie cutters, cut into desired shapes. Place cookies, about 1 inch apart, on ungreased cookie sheet.
4. Bake cookies 5 to 8 minutes until light golden. Sprinkle cookies with sugar. Immediately remove cookies to wire racks to cool. Repeat with remaining dough and trimmings. Store cookies in tightly covered container.
