German Wiener Bake Recipe
My longing for German Wiener Bake strengthened during high school days. This German Wiener Bake is a perfect Side Dish. Dish up this German Wiener Bake for a meal today and see it simply vanish.
Ingredients
1 lb. wieners
2 1-lb. cans pork and beans
1/4 c. chili sauce
1 1-lb. can sauerkraut
1/2 tsp. chopped dill
Directions
Slice 5 wieners.
Combine sliced wieners, beans and chili sauce; place in 1 1/2-quart casserole.
Drain sauerkraut; place in casserole.
Sprinkle with dill.
Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
Top with whole wieners; bake for 15 minutes longer.

This is similar to what my American friend made for me and was disappointed when I told her that there is nothing German about this. Note there are many countries that use sauerkraut and/or wieners in their recipes, but that does automatically confer the title "German" to a dish.
