German Cornmeal Sausage Muffins Recipe

Ingredients

 Cornmeal1
 Unbleached flour1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Baking powder4 Teaspoon
 Salt1⁄2 Teaspoon
 Pepper1⁄4 Teaspoon
 Sugar1 Tablespoon
 Milk1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)
 Egg1
 German sausage1 , cooked and sliced thick

Directions

Blend well the first six ingredients in a large bowl.
Then whisk the next three ingredients in a small bowl.
Combine quickly.
Spoon enough batter into greased muffin pans to fill half full.
Then place a slice of the cooked sausage in center and cover with more batter.
Bake on middle rack in preheated oven.
Bake at 425 degrees 18 minutes

As stated with another recipe by this contributor, Germans do not traditionally make muffins, and a dish such as this would certainly not be considered a dessert, but rather be called an American curiosity.
