German Pfeffernüsse Recipe
Ingredients
| Dark corn syrup | 1/3 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Granulated Sugar | 1/4 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Honey | 1/4 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Shortening | 1/4 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 , beaten | |
| All purpose flour | 2 1/4 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Baking soda | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground cloves | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Ground allspice | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Ground cinnamon | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Sifted powdered sugar | ||
Directions
In saucepan combine corn syrup, granulated sugar, honey, and shortening.
Cook and stir till shortening and sugar melt.
Cool.
Stir in egg.
Stir together flour, baking soda, and the spices.
Add to honey mixture; mix well.
Form into balls using a level tablespoon of dough for each.
Place on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake in 375°F oven for about 10 minutes.
Cool on wire rack.
Sift powdered sugar over cookies.
