Directions

Preheat the oven to 425°.
Cut the butter in flakes into a bowl.
Peel and chop the cloves of garlic, sprinkle with the salt and crush with a fork.
Add the crushed garlic to the butter and blend well.
Cut the bread almost all the way through in 1/2-inch, diagonal slices.
Spread the garlic butter evenly between the cuts, loosely wrap the bread in aluminum foil and bake in the oven 15 minutes.
The butter will melt and soak the bread; however, since some butter will collect in the aluminum foil, when serving lay the loaf on a warm platter and drizzle the extra butter over it.
Hot garlic bread tastes good with salads, grilled foods and especially with cold platters.
