| Tomatoes | 2 Small, cut into wedges | |

| 1/2 of a medium cucumber, thinly sliced | ||
| 1/2 of a medium red or white onion, sliced and separated into rings | ||
| Vinegar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salad oil | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Sugar | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Dried basil | 1/2 Teaspoon, crushed | |
| Salt | 1 Dash | |
| Pepper | 1 Dash | |
| Lettuce leaves | 4 | |
Directions
In a large mixing bowl combine tomatoes, green pepper, cucumber, and red or white onion.
In a screw-top jar combine vinegar, oil, sugar, basil, salt, and pepper.
Cover and shake well to mix.
Pour over vegetables; toss to coat.
Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 4 hours, tossing occasionally.
Line a serving plate with lettuce, if desired.
Using a slotted spoon, transfer vegetable mixture to the plate.
