 Tomatoes2 Small, cut into wedges
 1 medium green pepper, cut into rings
 1/2 of a medium cucumber, thinly sliced
 1/2 of a medium red or white onion, sliced and separated into rings
 Vinegar1/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Salad oil2 Tablespoon
 Sugar1/2 Teaspoon
 Dried basil1/2 Teaspoon, crushed
 Salt1 Dash
 Pepper1 Dash
 Lettuce leaves4

Directions

In a large mixing bowl combine tomatoes, green pepper, cucumber, and red or white onion.
In a screw-top jar combine vinegar, oil, sugar, basil, salt, and pepper.
Cover and shake well to mix.
Pour over vegetables; toss to coat.
Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 4 hours, tossing occasionally.
Line a serving plate with lettuce, if desired.
Using a slotted spoon, transfer vegetable mixture to the plate.
