Gar Doo Gai Recipe

Gar Doo Gai recipe is very precious to me because it was passed on to me by my mom. Chicken is the primary ingredient in Gar Doo Gai. I prepare this yum Gar Doo Gai as an Appetizer every month or even more often. This recipe will save you dollars which you have spent at Chinese restaurants for similar or perhaps inferior taste. I cant believe you just have not tried my Gar Doo Gai recipe, yet.

Ingredients

 
2 1/2 lbs. chicken
 
Salt
 
Water
 
3 tbs. peanut oil (or salad oil)
 
1/2 cup cooked long grain rice
 
2 cups shredded lettuce
 
1/2 cup finely chopped green onion
 
2 tbs. Chinese plum sauce
 
1/2 cup Papaya Seed
 
Dressing

Directions

Season chicken with salt, cover with water and simmer until tender, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Remove chicken from broth.
When cool, remove meat from bones and cut into strips 1-inch long.
Saute chicken in 2 tbs.
peanut oil until crisp.
Remove chicken from skillet.
Add remaining peanut oil to the skillet and heat until very hot.
Add rice and fry, stirring constantly until hard and grainy, about 2 minutes.
If skillet is not very hot, the rice will stick.
Toss rice with lettuce, sauteed chicken, green onion, plum sauce and papaya seed dressing.
