Directions
Combine flour, sugar, and soda; mix well, and set aside.
Combine water, 1 cup butter, and 1/4 cup cocoa in a heavy saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring constancy.
Gradually stir into flour mixture.
Stir in 1/2 cup buttermilk, eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Pour into a greased and floured 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking pan; bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

Spread on cooled cake.
