Chocolate Fudge Frosting Recipe
Fudge frosting is a delicious and rich frosting made with choclate and corn syrup. Flavored with vanilla, the fudge frosting goes best with chocolate cakes or better yet, fudge cakes. The fudge frosting can also be used with cupcakes.
Ingredients
2 1 ounce squares unsweetened chocolate
3 cups sugar
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
Combine chocolate, sugar, syrup, salt, and milk in a 3 quart saucepan.
Cook over low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves and chocolate melts.
Cook to soft ball stage (234°).
Remove from heat; add butter and cool till just warm (110°).
Add vanilla and beat till mixture is of spreading consistency.
Frosts tops and sides of two 9 inch layers.
