Ingredients

 
Sugar – 2 cups
 
Light Cream – ¾ cup
 
Unsweetened Chocolate – 2 squares (2 ounces)
 
Light Corn Syrup – 2 tablespoons
 
Salt - 1/8 teaspoon
 
Butter – 2 tablespoons
 
Vanilla – 1 teaspoon

Directions

MAKING
1) In a heavy saucepan, mix together the sugar, cream, chocolate, corn syrup and salt
2) Cook over a low flame and stir continuously till dissolved
3) Cook the syrup till the syrup when dropped in a cup of cold water forms a very soft ball
4) Take off from the heat
5) Add in the butter and allow to cool to a lukewarm temperature
6) Add in the vanilla and beat the mixture till it thickens and loses its gloss
7) Add in more cream and teaspoon at a time till it comes to a spreading consistency
8) Makes enough to spread an 8 or 9 inch layered cake
9) To prevent the frosting from hardening, place the bowl over hot water

SERVING
10) To be used to frost or fill a cake
