Fruit Spice Cake Recipe
Ingredients
| 1/2 cup butter, margarine or shortening | ||
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Unsweetened apple sauce | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Flour | 2 Cup (16 tbs), sifted | |
| Baking soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Powdered cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves | ||
| Raisins | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Nuts | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
Directions
1. Start oven, set at Moderate, 350° F. Rub a 9-inch square baking pan with margarine or shortening and dust it lightly with flour.
2. Cream the butter, margarine or shortening until soft; gradually add the sugar beating until creamy; stir in the apple sauce.
3. Sift the flour wtih the soda and spices and add to the creamed mixture; stir in the raisins and nuts and mix thoroughly.
4. Pour the batter into the pan. Bake about 45 minutes.
