Directions

Line a 10 1/2 x 15 x 3/4 inch baking pan with wax paper.
Grease well.
Cut citron into thick slices and grind with the rest of the fruit and nuts.
Mix well with 1 cup of the flour.
Sift remaining flour 3 times with baking powder, salt and spices.
Cream butter, sugar and vanilla thoroughly.
Add eggs and yolk, one at a time, and beat thoroughly after each addition.
Add molasses, then gradually stir in sifted flour mixture.
Add ground fruit and nuts and mix well.
Spread batter in the prepared pan and bake in a moderate oven (350° F.) for 20 to 25 minutes.
Cool slightly in pan and drizzle with Orange Frosting.
Cut into bars while still warm.
Store in a tightly covered container.
Makes about 35 bars.
