Frosted Cranberry Squares Recipe

Ingredients

 
Crushed pineapple-1, 13 1/2-ounces, can, drained and reserve syrup
 
Lemon gelatin-2, 3-ounces, packages
 
Bottle ginger ale-1, 7-ounces
 
Jellied cranberry sauce-1, 1 pound, can
 
Cream cheese-1, 8-ounces, package
 
Dessert topping mix-1, 2-ounces, package
 
Pecans-1/2 cup, chopped
 
Butter or margarine-1 tablespoon

Directions

MAKING
1)In a sauceapan, mix enough water to pineapple syrup to equal 1 cup liquid.
2)Bring liquid to a boil and add gelatin until dissolved. Cool to room temperature.
3)Add ginger ale and chill until thickened.
4)Crush cranberry sauce with fork and add pineapple.
5)Add this mixture into gelatin and mix.
6)Take a 9-inch square pan and put the mixture into it. Chill until firm.
7)In a bowl, soften cream cheese.
8)Prepare dessert topping mix as per package directions.
9)Add and beat cream cheese.
10)Spread over gelatin.
11)Take a shallow pan, spread pecans and add butter.
12)Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until pecans are lightly toasted.
13)Sprinkle pecans on cream cheese mixture.
14)Chill dessert until ready to serve.

SERVING
15)Cut the dessert into 9 squares and serve.
