Fried Rice With Grilled Tofu Recipe

Fried rice with grilled tofu is a simple and delicious recipe for rice. Prepared with the flavors of soy sauce, hoisin sauce and spiced with chili paste and a hint of orange, the rice is served with grilled tofu and cooked vegetables.

Ingredients

 
1/2 lb tofu 250 g
 
1 tbsp hoisin sauce 15 mL
 
1 tsp sesame oil 5 mL
 
1/4 tsp hot chili paste l mL
 
1 tbsp vegetable oil 15 mL
 
1 onion, chopped 1
 
1 sweet red pepper, chopped 1
 
4 cups cooked rice 1L
 
3 tbsp rice vinegar or cider vinegar 45 mL
 
2 tbsp orange juice concentrate 25 mL
 
1 tbsp soy sauce 15 mL
 
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro or parsley 50 mL
 
4 green onions, chopped 4

Directions

Rinse tofu and pat dry.
Cut into 3 or 4 pieces about 1 inch/2.5 cm thick.
In small bowl, combine hoisin sauce, sesame oil and chili paste.
Spread all over tofu.
Marinate for 10 to 60 minutes.
Cook tofu on lightly oiled hot grill or skillet until brown, a few minutes per side.
Dice.
Meanwhile, heat oil in large non-stick wok or skillet.
Add onion and red pepper and cook gently for a few minutes, until tender.
Add rice and break up.
Cook, stirring, until hot.
Stir in vinegar, orange juice concentrate and soy sauce.
Gently fold in tofu, cilantro and green onions
