Ingredients

 
Pomfret - 1.5 pounds
 
For Marination :
 
Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
 
Ginger Paste - 1 tsp
 
Garam Masala - 1 tsp
 
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
 
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
 
Salt - 1 tsp
 
Chickpea Flour (besan) - 1 tsp
 
Ajwain Seeds - 1 tsp
 
Lemon Juice/ Lime Juice - 1
 
Egg - 1
 
Rice Flour - 1/2 cup
 
Mustard Oil - for frying
 
Onion - 1, cut into slices
 
Tomato - 1, cut into slices
 
Chaat Masala - a pinch

Directions

GETTING READY
1 Clean the fish thoroughly and score it as shown in the video. This will allow the marinade to absorb well in the fish.
2 In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients except the rice flour.
3 Add in the lime juice and mix well.
4 Add in the egg and mix well to incorporate it completely into the mixture.
5 Gradually stir in half the rice flour mixing well to combine.
6 The marinade is ready, spread it evenly on top of the fish and also on the inside to make it really flavorful.
7 Place the prepared fish in the refrigerator for an hour.

MAKING
8 In a wide skillet, heat mustard oil.
9 Lightly coat the fish with the remaining rice flour.
10 Shake off the excessive flour.
11 Carefully place the fish in the pan and let it cook on medium heat for 10 minutes.
12 Flip the fish carefully to cook on the other side.
13 Cook the fish on the other side until golden brown.

SERVING
14 Transfer the fish to a serving dish and serve it on a bed of sliced onions and tomatoes.
15 Sprinkle with some chaat masala for added taste.
