Fried Apple Pies Recipe

Ingredients
1 (8-ounce) package dried apples
1 quart water
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Pastry
Vegetable oil
Sugar
Directions
Combine apples and water in a Dutch oven, bring to a boil.
Reduce heat, and cook, uncovered, until mixture thickens.
Stir in 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon.
Refrigerate overnight.
Roll pastry onto a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut into 4-inch circles.
Place about 1 tablespoon apple mixture on half of each circle, fold pastry in half.
Moisten edges with water; press edges together with a fork dipped in flour.
Heat 1/2 inch oil in a large skillet.
Cook pies until golden, turning once.
Drain on paper towels.
Sprinkle with sugar.
