1 small package (3 oz.) cream cheese
 
Salt and paprika to taste
 
1/2 teaspoon minced chives or green onion tops
 
8 slices bacon, cut in half
 
4 slices bread
 
6 tablespoons butter
 
2 pints fresh medium sized oysters
 
4 teaspoons cracker meal
 
1/4 teaspoon each salt and paprika

Directions

Blend the cheese (warmed to room temperature) with salt and paprika to taste; add the chives; set aside.
Fry bacon until crisp; toast bread and spread with the cheese mixture; keep bacon and toast warm.
In a frying pan, melt butter, heat until frothy, and add oysters.
Sprinkle them with cracker meal and the 1/4 teaspoon salt and paprika; saute until they're golden and plump and start to curl.
Arrange oysters on the cheese-covered toast, and garnish each sandwich with 4 pieces of crisp bacon
