Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream Topping Recipe
Looking for some out-of-the-usual ice cream topping? Go for this refreshingly fresh strawberry ice topping; best served as ice cream sauce!
Ingredients
2 tspns. cornstarch
1 tblspn, butter
few drops red food
colouring
1/2-cup sugar
3/4-cup cold water
2 cups sliced fresh
strawberries
Directions
Combine sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan.
Blend in water and 1/2-cup of the strawberries.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils.
Boil 3 mins.
Remove from heat.
Add butter and red food colouring.
Cool, then stir in remaining 11/2-cups sliced strawberries.
Serve as a sauce for ice cream.
Makes about 2 cups — 4 to 6 servings.
