Ingredients
| Beef brisket | 1 | |
| Onions | 2 Medium, sliced | |
| Water | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Bay Leaf | 1 | |
| Sauerkraut | 1 27 Ounce | |
| Potato | 1 Medium, shredded | |
| Caraway seed | 1 Teaspoon |
Directions
Trim excess fat from meat.
Place meat, fat side down, in skillet; brown on both sides.
Add onions, water, salt, and bay leaf.
Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
Drain sauerkraut (rinse, if milder flavor is desired); add to meat with potato and caraway.
Simmer, covered, till meat is tender, about 30 minutes longer.
Remove the bay leaf.
