Fresh Berry Charlotte Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 1/2-2 cups washed strawberries, raspberries or black-. berries | ||
| 1 1/2 cups soft white bread crumbs | ||
| Sugar | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Orange juice | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Butter/Margarine | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs), melted | |
| 2 egg yolks, slightly beaten | ||
| 2 egg whites Pinch salt | ||
| Sugar | 2 Tablespoon | |
Directions
Combine first 3 ingredients; combine orange juice, butter or margarine and egg yolks, and stir into berries.
Spread in greased 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
Beat egg whites and salt together until soft peaks form; then beat in 2 tablespoons sugar gradually.
Spread meringue evenly over fruit mixture.
Bake at 350 °F.about 35 minutes.
Serve warm with cream or Custard Sauce.
