Fresh Pear Dumplings Recipe
|Double crust pie pastry||1|
|Pears||6 Small, peeled and cored|
|Cream cheese||3 Ounce, softened (1 Package)|
|Chopped walnuts||2 Tablespoon, toasted|
|Water||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Red cinnamon candies||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|

On lightly floured surface roll pastry into 21 x 14-inch rectangle; cut into six 7-inch squares.
Place one pear upright on each square.
Stir together cream cheese and nuts.
Fill center of each pear with about 1 tablespoon cheese mixture; sprinkle 1 teaspoon sugar over each.
Moisten edges of pastry with water.
Bring corners to center; overlap and pinch edges to seal.
Place in 11 x 7 1/2 x1 1/2 inch baking pan.
In saucepan combine the water, the 1 1/4 cups sugar, and candies; cook till candies dissolve.
Bring to boiling; stir in butter or margarine.
Pour over dumplings.
Bake at 400° for 35 to 40 minutes.
