Fresh Apple Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
| Shortening | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Firmly packed brown sugar | 1 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| Milk | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| All-purpose flour -2 cups | ||
| Baking soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Ground nutmeg | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Cardamom | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Raisins | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Pecans | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Apple | 1 Cup (16 tbs), finely chopped | |
| Powdered sugar | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), sifted (Vanilla frosting:) | |
| Salt | 1/8 Teaspoon (Vanilla frosting:) | |
| Milk | 2 1/2 Tablespoon (Vanilla frosting:) | |
| Butter/Margarine | 1 Tablespoon, melted (Vanilla frosting:) | |
| Vanilla extract | 1/2 Teaspoon (Vanilla frosting:) | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1. Preheat oven to 400°
MAKING
2. Cream shortening. Add sugar and beat until fluffy.
3. Mix egg and milk. Beat well.
4. In a bowl mix flour, soda, spices and salt.
5. Fold into creamed mixture and mix.
6. Add raisins, pecans and apple.
7. On ungreased cookie sheets drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls, 1 1/2inches apart.
8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
9. Remove from cookie sheets and cool on wire racks.
SERVING
10. Frost with vanilla frosting.
11. To prepare, in a small mixing bowl add all ingredients.
12. Beat until smooth.
