French Style Green Beans With Water Chestnuts Recipe
Ingredients
| Water chestnuts | 1 Can (10oz), slivered | |
| Onion | 3 Tablespoon, chopped | |
| Butter/Margarine | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Few grains pepper | ||
| Lemon juice | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Soy sauce | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 1 lb. fresh green beans, Frenched, cooked, and drained | ||
Directions
Brown water chestnuts and onion in hot butter in a large skillet.
Stir in a mixture of salt, pepper, lemon juice, and soy sauce.
Heat thoroughly.
Toss sauce with hot beans.

This recipe certainly adds a new twist to French green beans. I found the slicing of the water chestnuts wasn't easy - then as for silvering them...
The lemon and soya sauce flavours get absorbed into the water chesnuts, which is great. I made the amount of 'sauce' recommended with only 500g of beans which probably changed the balance - but I enjoy water chesnuts - until it comes to silvering them.
