Fragrant French Onion Soup Recipe
Ingredients
| Yellow onions | 3 Large, thinly sliced | |
| 4 tablespoons firm butter or margarine | ||
| All purpose flour | 2 Teaspoon | |
| 6 cups regular strength beef broth or 6 beef bouillon cubes and 6 cups water | ||
| Dry white wine | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Garlic powder | ||
| 6 to 8 slices crusty French bread toasted and buttered | ||
| Shredded Swiss cheese | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
Place onions in a 3 quart casserole or soup tureen.
Cut butter into pieces and distribute over onions.
Cover with a lid or wax paper.
Microwave on HIGH (100%) for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes.
Stir in flour and microwave, uncovered, on HIGH (100%) for 1 minute.
Add broth and wine. (At this point you may cover and refrigerate until next day.)
Microwave, covered, on HIGH (100%) for 8 minutes (15 to 18 minutes, if refrigerated), stirring every 4 minutes.
To serve, lightly sprinkle garlic powder on hot buttered toast.
Place 1 toast slice in each soup bowl; ladle soup over toast.
