French Cheese Pastries Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 2 Cup (16 tbs), sifted | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Shortening | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Cold water | 7 Tablespoon | |
| Butter/Margarine | 3 Tablespoon | |
| All purpose flour | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Milk | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 cup shredded sharp process cheese | ||
| Parmesan cheese | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), shredded | |
Directions
Make plain pastry of first four ingredients.
Make thick white sauce of next 4 ingredients, add shredded process cheese and stir till melted; set aside.
Cut pastry in half; roll each half to an 11 1/2x7 1/2 inch rectangle, a little less than 1/4 inch thick.
Line bottom of 11 1/2x7 1/2x 1 1/2 inch baking dish with one piece of pastry.
Spread the cheese sauce over it.
Top with remaining pastry.
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Bake at 450° till pastry is golden, about 20 minutes.
Cut in rectangles and serve hot.
