2 tablespoons orange marmalade
 
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
 
1 8-ounce package sliced cooked ham
 
1 8-ounce loaf party rye-bread slices
 
1/2 8-ounce package sliced Swiss cheese
 
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
 
1/4 cup milk
 
1 egg

Directions

1. In cup, stir marmalade and mustard until mixed; set aside. Cut ham slices to fit on half of the bread slices; cut cheese slices to fit on top of ham, then top with a dollop of marmalade mixture and another bread slice.
2. Preheat oven to 450°F. In 15 1/2 by 10 1/2 jelly-roll pan, melt butter or margarine; remove pan from oven. In pie plate, with fork beat milk and egg until mixed. Dip sandwiches, one at a time, into egg mixture to coat all sides. Place sandwiches, in one layer, in jelly-roll pan.
3. Bake until sandwiches are golden brown on both sides, about 20 minutes, turning once. Cut each sandwich in half.
