French Toast Or Pain Perdu Recipe
Ingredients
| Sugar | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Milk | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| 1/4 teaspoon brandy or vanilla | ||
| Eggs | 2 Small, beaten | |
| 6 slices stale bread | ||
| Shortening | 2 Tablespoon | |
| 1 tablespoon butter or bacon drippings | ||
| Confectioners sugar, honey or syrup | ||
Directions
MAKING
1. In a bowl combine sugar, milk, salt, flavoring and eggs.
2. Soak bread in mixture and cook in hot shortening and butter such that well browned on both sides.
SERVING
3. Sprinkling over with confectioners' sugar serve hot, with syrup or honey.
