French Style Onion Soup Recipe
Ingredients
| 4 large Spanish onions, thinly sliced | ||
| Butter/Margarine | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Olive oil | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Garlic | 3 Clove (5gm), minced | |
| Whole wheat flour | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Chicken stock | 4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Soy sauce | 1 Tablespoon | |
| French bread slice | 6 | |
| 3/4 cup shredded reduced-fat Swiss or Gruyere cheese | ||
Directions
In a 3-quart casserole, combine the onions, margarine or butter, and oil.
Microwave for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the margarine or butter is melted.
Stir in the garlic.
Cover with wax paper and microwave on high for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the onions are tender.
Sprinkle with the flour and stir well.
Stir in the stock and soy sauce.
Cover with a lid and microwave on high for 15 minutes.
Divide the bread among individual bowls.
Add soup and sprinkle with the Swiss or Gruyere.
Microwave two bowls at a time on medium (50% power) for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
