French Style Green Peas Recipe
French style green peas, is a herbed green peas recipe. Seasoned and cooked along with green onions, lettuce and flavored with lemon juice, the green peas are tossed and served warm.
Ingredients
2 teaspoons unsalted margarine
3 green onions, sliced thin
2 1/2 cups shredded Boston lettuce or other lettuce
2 cups fresh green peas or 1 1/3 10 ounce packages frozen green peas
1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram, crumbled
1/4 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
Directions
In a medium size heavy saucepan, melt the margarine over moderate heat; add the green onions and cook, uncovered, until soft about 5 minutes.
Add the lettuce, tossing to coat with the margarine, and cook, covered, until wilted about 4 minutes.
Stir in the peas, marjoram, and sugar; cover and cook until the peas are just tender about 5 minutes.
Stir in the lemon juice.
