Ingredients

 2 pints good stock or use water and bouillon cube
 1 lb. mixed root vegetables
 Salt To Taste
 Pepper1
 2 oz. stale breadcrumbs
 Cheese2 Ounce, grated
 Parsley2 Tablespoon, chopped

Directions

Bring the stock to the boil; add the diced vegetables and bacon if used.
Cook until really tender, adding seasoning to taste.
Stir in the crumbs and cheese and parsley and serve at once.
