Simple French Onion Soup Recipe
This French Onion Soup is an excellent and very tasty recipe. The sherry flavor to this French Onion Soup blended perfectly. Serve it in an attractive bowl and it is more than perfect!
Ingredients
4 tablespoons butter
6 yellow onions, sliced
2 cans beef broth
1 1/2 soup cans water
1/2 soup can sherry
6 slices toasted French bread, about an inch thick
3/4 cup grated Parmesan or Gruyere cheese
Directions
In a skillet, melt butter and saute onions until lightly browned.
Pour them into the crock cooker along with the remaining ingredients.
Cook on Low for 4 to 6 hours.
At serving time, spoon soup into heat-proof cups or ramekins and top with toasted bread.
Sprinkle with cheese.
If convenient, place cups under a broiler until the cheese bubbles.
