French Loaves Recipe
Ingredients
| Yeast package | 1 | |
| Butter/Margarine | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs), melted | |
| 2 c. lukewarm milk | ||
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Flour | 6 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 , beaten | |
Directions
Place the yeast in a bowl.
Mix the butter and milk.
Pour over the yeast and stir until dissolved.
Add the salt and flour and mix until smooth.
Let rise until doubled in bulk.
Knead on a floured board until smooth.
Reserve 1 cup dough.
Divide remaining dough in half and shape each half into an oblong loaf.
Place on a baking sheet.
Divide reserved dough in half and shape each half into a roll the length of loaves.
Twist, then place each roll on a loaf.
Let rise until doubled in bulk.
Brush with egg.
Bake in 350-degree oven for about 20 minutes.
