French Honey Bread Recipe
Ingredients
| 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour, unsifted | ||
| 1 teaspoon each ground cinnamon and soda | ||
| 1/2 teaspoon each ground nutmeg and ground cloves | ||
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Firmly packed brown sugar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Honey | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Evaporated milk | 1 Can (10oz) | |
| Milk | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
Stir together flour, cinnamon, soda, nutmeg, cloves, and salt until thoroughly blended.
Mix in brown sugar.
In another bowl, beat together honey, evaporated milk, and milk; add to dry ingredients and stir just until blended.
Pour into a greased and flour-dusted 9 by 5-inch loaf pan.
Bake in a 325° oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes, until bread begins to pull away from sides of pan and a wooden' skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cool in pan for 5 minutes, then turn out onto a rack to cool completely.
Wrap and store for 1 day before serving.
