French Breakfast Cakes Recipe
Ingredients
| Sugar | 1 1/2 Cup(16 tbs), divided | |
| Ground cinnamon | 2 Teaspoon | |
| All purpose flour | 1 1/2 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Baking powder | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground mace | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Shortening | 1/3 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| Milk | 1/2 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| 3 ounces cream cheese, cut into 12 cubes | ||
| Butter/Margarine | 1/2 Cup(16 tbs), melted | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1) Preheat the oven to 350°.
MAKING
2) In a bowl, add 1 cup of the sugar and the cinnamon to combine. Set aside.
3) In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and mace.
In another bowl, add shortening, remaining 1/2 cup of the sugar, and the egg to beat together.
4) Alternately add flour mixture with milk, stirring just until combined.
5) Lightly grease muffin pan.
6) Using half of the batter, fill muffin cups 1/3 full.
7) Place a cube of cream cheese on top.
8) Add remaining batter on top, filling muffin cups 2/3 full.
9) Place inside oven to bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden.
10) Remove the muffins from muffin pan.

11) Roll muffins in melted butter, then in sugar-cinnamon mixture before serving.
