French Bread Pizza Recipe

This french bread pizza is prepared with tomatoes and cheese. Lovely, simple and flavorful, the french bread pizza is herbed with oregano. Made with mozzarella and parmesan cheese to taste, it is peppy and delicious.

Ingredients

 
1/2 1/2 pound loaf whole wheat French or Italian bread
 
1 clove garlic, cut in half
 
2 large ripe tomatoes, cored and chopped
 
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
 
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
 
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, crumbled
 
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
 
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

Preheat the broiler.
Cut the bread in half lengthwise, then scoop out and discard the soft center.
Place the bread cut side up on an ungreased baking sheet and toast in the broiler, 5 or 6 inches from the heat, for 3 or 4 minutes or until lightly browned.
Remove the bread and rub with the garlic.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, olive oil, oregano, and pepper.
Spoon the mixture into each piece of bread and sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese.
Broil for 3 minutes.
