Classic French Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| Nut Cookie Crust | ||
| Apples | 8 Cup (16 tbs), thinly sliced | |
| Granulated Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 3 tablespoons all- purpose, unbleached or whole wheat flour | ||
| Ground cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Whole wheat flour | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), unbleached | |
| Packed brown sugar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/4 cup firm margarine or butter | ||
Directions
Prepare Nut Cookie Crust.
Heat oven to 425°.
Mix apples, granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons flour and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
Turn into crust.
Mix 1/2 cup flour, the brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; cut in margarine until crumbly.
Sprinkle over apples.
Cover edge with 2- to 3-inch strip of aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning.
Bake 15 minutes.
Reduce oven temperature to 350°.
Bake 25 to 35 minutes longer or until apples are tender and mixture begins to bubble.
Cool pie slightly; serve warm.
