Freezer French Toast Recipe
Freezer french toast is a recipe for do ahead french toast that can be heated up for serving. Made with white bread coated in a batter of milk, sugar and eggs, the french toast are baked and frozen and can be reheated in a toaster, later on.
Ingredients
5 eggs
1 1/4 cups milk
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
16 slices white bread
Directions
Heat oven to 500°.
Beat eggs, milk, sugar and salt until mixed.
Dip bread slices in egg mixture; arrange on buttered baking sheets.
Bake until underside is golden brown, about 5 minutes.
Turn slices; bake until golden brown, about 2 minutes.
(Can be served immediately.) Cool on wire racks.
Place in a single layer on baking sheets.
Freeze until hard, about 2 hours.
Wrap, label and return to freezer.
15 minutes before serving, heat oven to 375°.
Remove Freezer French Toast from freezer and unwrap; place on ungreased baking sheets.
Heat until hot, 8 to 10 minutes.
Or, small quantities can be heated in a toaster.
