We have found a new favourite grain, freekeh which is 10X more healthy than brown rice, and we love it! I bought a microwave packet at Cost Plus/World Market to give it a quick try-Zayed Brand. I had bought a large box of Freekeh to make and grabbed this as to give us an idea of the flavour. This was awesome! Simply cooked with cumin, parsley, broth wonderful flavour. Green wheat a whole toasted grain called freekeh is unique and is 100% natural dietic food product. Freekeh is beneficial for preventing and managing diabetes, good in prebiotic effect, conbats with developments of soft-tissue cancers, excellent for bowel health, has low gi, high in protein, rich range of vitamins, and natural fiber food. Green wheat freekeh grains are consumed as a starch, just like rice, potato, or pasta.

Ingredients

Farîk (pronounced FirEEK or FREEK or FREEKeh) is immature hard
wheat that goes through a roasting process during its production. The
food is commonly prepared from immature grains of durum wheat (hard
wheat or semolina) when the grains are still milky.

400g freekeh or bulgar wheat
1.25 litres water or broth
1 tsp Salt
2 tbsp Olive oil
spices of your choosing like cumin, preserved lemons, or ?

simmer 30 minutes
